The club’s endurance runners have run and competed at various distances from 5k to marathon in the last few weeks and I have listed below a number of the notable performances:
Leslie Pirie (2:48.06) was 1st female and 7th overall in the Loch Ness Marathon on 24th September 2017. Gerry Craig was (2:54.43) was 28th and 5th in his age category.
Alex Potter (88.49) ran the Great North Run on 10th September and was 8th in his age category and on 1st October Alex also ran the Great Scottish in a time of 88.08.
On Sunday 8th October the Neil McCover Memorial Half Marathon took place at Kirkintilloch. Gerry Craig (83.58) was 13th, Andy Law (85.15) was 21st and 1st Vet 60.
The Scottish Veteran Harriers 10,000m track championship took place at Grangemouth Stadium on 15th October with Andy Law (39.21) 5th overall and 1st Vet 60
The Great Scottish 10k Run took place on 1st October. Diane Ramsey (44.09) in only her second 10k knocked almost 3 minutes off her PB. Grace Thompson (53.03), who normally competes in the high jump, ran her first 10k. On Sunday 8th October, Peter Jardine (40.43) was 46th at the Linlithgow 10k. Mark Ashby (38.12) was 15th and 1st in his age category in the Natterjack Seaside 10k at Southport on 24th September.
The last few weeks have seen VP-Glasgow athletes running at various parkrun locations around the UK and Ireland. Notable performances:
On 14th October Daniel Kinniburgh (U15) was 3rd overall at Ganavan Sands parkrun (Oban) in a time of 21.09 and Finlay Watters was 8th at Druridge Bay parkrun (Morpeth) in a time of 19.58. On 7th October Rhian Dawes was 1st Female finisher at Pegwell Bay parkrun (Kent) in a time of 19.29, Emma Mathieson 2nd female at Naas parkrun (Ireland) in a time of 21.24 and Sandy Gardner was 2nd at Ruchill parkrun in 20.28

In the Kyles 10 mile race on 9th September, Lesley Pirie (63.50) was 1st Female and 7th overall.
