Thistle Tables

The first date of our club championships will be Sunday the 27th of June.  The venue as always will be Scotstoun Stadium.

As you know, this will once again be a Grade 1 event that will be shared on the UK Power of Ten, and for most taking part, success will be measured in where you're ranked nationally.  If you haven't seen the national rankings, you'll find them at this link: https://www.thepowerof10.info/

For a little local excitement and to sort out who the best three athletes are, in each age group, accross all events, we're going to use the Scottish Athletics Thistle Tables which are accessed by Club Secretaries via an online awards system.

When all of the results are in, we'll upload them to Scottish Athletics, and points will be awarded for each performance.  This way, we can compare the best performance by a long jumper next to a hammer thrower etc.

In order to demonstrate how the system works, I noted the best performances in each event for U17 men in Scotland this year and the results are recorded below.

Best 800m Under 17 Male 01:53.9 834
Best 1500m Under 17 Male 03:58.8 791
Best 200m Under 17 Male 22.2s 773
Best Long Jump Under 17 Male 6.58m 725
Best Discus Under 17 Male 41.57m 689
Best Javelin Under 17 Male 50.67m 688
Best High Jump Under 17 Male 1.88m 686
Best Shot Put Under 17 Male 13.82m 686
Best Hammer Under 17 Male 47.15m 627
Best 100m Under 17 Male 11.4s 580

As you can see, Scottish Athletics is particularly strong in middle distance events but it'll be interesting to see where the talents of our members lie.  Remember, medals will be awarded for athletes finishing in the first three places within their age group.

If you'd like to compete at the club championships and you haven't already entered, you can do so by logging into your LoveAdmin account and clicking on Events on the menu bar.  You can select a maximum of two events on each of the two days we'll be competing.

U11 athletes will compete in a Run, Jump and Throw competition on the same dates.

Good luck to everyone taking part.
