West District Cross Country

The West of Scotland Cross Country Relays were held on Sunday 11th October at Hamilton Racecourse on a dry, bright autumn day.

VP-Glasgow was well represented by teams across all the age groups with the Senior Women taking Gold in a time of 00:44:22.  This winning team, which Scottish Athletics termed “an unstoppable force”, consisted of Gillian Black, Erin McIlveen and Josephine Moultrie.  Gillian was also 1st Individual Senior Woman (U20) with a leg time of 00:14:37.

This was followed up by our Junior Girls team winning Silver in a time of 00:29:43.  Team consisted of Isla Britton, Adrienne Murray and Holly Little.

Well done, girls and to all who competed at this event.

With the Cross Country season now started in earnest, VP-Glasgow was again well represented at the Dunbartonshire Cross Country Relays which were held at Maryhill Park on Saturday 17th October.  Weather again was kind with a dry, sunny day.

Many thanks go to the Connolly family for their input on the day - Lynn McGarry and Thomas Connolly kindly took lots of photos which can be found on our Facebook page and Ralph Connolly posted the following event summary.

“The Dunbartonshire XC Relays at Maryhill Park today were very successful for the club with Gold for the Senior Men, Gold and Silver for the Junior Females and Silver for the Junior Males.  There was an excellent turnout from our U11s, many of them running XC for the first time and we secured first teams for both the Boys (first two places) and Girls (first three places).”

Very well done to all who competed.
